Privacy Policy

The plain-English version

I collect only what’s needed to send you the Brief, run analytics, and reply to your emails. I don’t sell your data. I don’t run advertising trackers. You can unsubscribe, request your data, or ask me to delete it any time. Email jeff@jefflizik.com with the subject line [PRIVACY] and I’ll handle it inside 30 days.

01Who runs this site

This site is operated by Jeff Lizik, owner of RedShift Digital Marketing. Reach me at jeff@jefflizik.com. For privacy-specific requests, prefix the subject line with [PRIVACY] so it routes to the top of the queue.

02What I collect

There are exactly three ways data flows into this site:

  • Newsletter signup. Your email address, the date you subscribed, and which page you signed up from.
  • Site analytics. Anonymized usage data: pages visited, time on page, device type, country-level location, and referring source. Your IP is anonymized before storage.
  • Direct emails. If you email me, I keep your message and address in my inbox so I can reply and follow up.

I do not collect names, phone numbers, payment data, government IDs, or anything sensitive. There are no contact forms on this site by design.

03Why I collect it

04Who I share it with

I never sell your data. I never trade it. I share data only with the tools I use to run this site, and only the minimum needed for them to do their job:

If I add other tools, this section gets updated before they go live.

05Cookies

This site uses two kinds of cookies, both first-party:

  • Essential cookies. Required to make the site function (session, security). These run with no opt-in needed.
  • Analytics cookies. Set by Google Analytics 4 to count visits and measure engagement. You can opt out via your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting or by using Google’s official GA opt-out tool.

I do not run advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social tracking pixels. No Facebook Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no TikTok Pixel.

06Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data I hold about you.
  • Correct any data that’s wrong.
  • Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Unsubscribe from the Brief at any time using the link in every email.
  • Opt out of analytics tracking via your browser settings.
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority if you live in the EU/UK.

To exercise any of these rights, email jeff@jefflizik.com with subject line [PRIVACY]. I respond inside 30 days.

07How long I keep your data

  • Newsletter subscribers: as long as you’re subscribed, plus 12 months after unsubscribe in case you re-subscribe and want your history back.
  • Email correspondence: kept indefinitely unless you ask me to delete it.
  • Analytics data: 14 months in GA4, then auto-deleted.

08Children’s privacy

This site is for adults running businesses. I don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you’re a parent and believe I have data on your child, email me with subject [PRIVACY] and I’ll delete it.

09Jurisdiction

This site is operated from the United States. By using it, you agree your data may be processed in the US. If you live in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively. All of those rights are honored on request.

10Changes to this policy

If I add a new tool or change how data is handled, I update this page and bump the effective date at the top. Material changes get announced in the Brief. No silent updates.
